MY SENSES AND MY RELATIONSHIP

Here are just some of the
ways of how your senses influence your relationship.
The
Eyes Are the Windows
Love can be seen! Almost
everyone makes a relationship with someone whom they are attracted to. Whilst
some people may be attracted to light-skinned people, others find dark-skinned
people more appealing.
In our social encounters,
eye contact is essential. It is a very good indicator. Dr. Julius Fast says it
well: “If you hold another person’s eye longer than, say, two seconds, it’s a
clear sign that you are interested.”
People are more attracted
to faces that are looking directly and smiling at them. A long gaze can make people feel more
attracted to one another with an increase in feelings of passionate love.
Your eyes observe and acknowledge the positive and negative changes of a
person, which affects your love for them.
The
Nose Knows Best
It may not always be
obvious, but smell plays an important role in our relationships.
People subconsciously use
smell to search for their appropriate mates. The smell of their body, clothes, food,
etc. brings about a positive or negative impression – which can strengthen or crumble
a relationship.
Familiar scents can
arouse memories of somebody you are fond of, creating a new sensation in the relationship you have with the person.
The
Skin's Sensitivity to Touch
Gentle touch is powerful! It is an art, and unfortunately few people know how to do it. We
strive for it, and the affection from a sensitive touch is a great way to
become connected in a relationship, which leaves each partner more satisfied.
Ranging from holding
hands, walking arm in arm, hugging, playing footsie, sleeping in each other’s
arms, kissing and having sex, the continuous gentle touch of someone eventually
creates feelings of love for them.
Have you noticed how a
handshake to someone of a softened palm as against someone of a dry scaly palm
affected whom you got much closer to? The perception!
The
Tongue's Taste-Testing Power
A simple way to describe
this sense is through food. You tasted his or her meal, and did you realize how
it affected your perception about that person, and eventually your decision?
The married couples, hope you realize the effect of the taste of the food on your
marriage?
This is also applicable to a kiss, and I need not say much about that.
Do you also realize that the
words we use can leave a taste in people’s mouths? Words of affirmation
leave positive long-lasting impressions and sweet taste which build up the
relationship; but harsh words leave negative memories and a bitter taste which jeopardize
the love.
The
Ear Hears Well
Love can be heard!
You heard the way he speaks, and you were like "Wow! He speaks kindly, and I
love that". You heard her lovely voice and it was so soothing you couldn't
resist it, right?
Well, what we hear about, and
from our partners is
very
important in any relationship.
We hear good from them and about them, and we become “highly spiritual”; then we
hear bad about them and from them, and the “fire quenches”.
What did you hear about
him and from her that made you love them back?
Your
Voice Can Reveal You
It’s as if there is a sixth sense that “rules” the five
senses – the voice! Your voice can reveal what you have seen,
touched, heard, smelled or tasted.
People “change” their
voices accordingly. When engaged with someone, our voices vary more in pitch, going
lower with a romantic tone for those we love, accept, cherish and find
attractive, and vice versa.
Be aware of the impact of
your senses on your relationship!
