RESOLVE TO BE A LOVELY SPOUSE!

It’s
a new year and many of us are setting (if not already) new year resolutions. One
major aspect of our lives which requires yearly resolution has to do with our
relationships.
Everyone dreams of a lovely relationship [marriage]; but it
takes much efforts. Every relationship, especially marriage requires love
[lovely partners] to make it harmonious, happy and fulfilling.
To
be a lovely spouse, thus, is a great goal you can set for yourself for the year.
Remember, there are two people in a relationship [marriage], so both the man
and woman must make effort to become a better partner.
It’s
worth resolving to be a faithful man [husband]. “Most men will proclaim each his own goodness; But who can find a
faithful man? The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed
after him” (Proverbs 20:6-7).
As
woman, to be a virtuous woman [wife] is a great thing you can desire. Proverbs 31:10-11
says, “Who can find a virtuous wife [woman]?
For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So
he will have no lack of gain.”
Marriage
is a continuous learning and preparation institution. Every marriage is a work
in progress. In fact, every relationship is a learning process; no
relationship is a finished product!
You
thus have to keep assessing yourselves in every sphere of your lives, and
pursue to be the best.
This
requires that you are the best of friends as couple and ready to grow together,
and not grow apart?
So
sit down with your spouse/partner and ask these questions:
- What do I do that you would want me to do more?
- What do I do that you would want me to do less?
- What do I do that you would want me to stop doing altogether?
- What do I not do that you would want me to start doing?
In brief, ask
yourself: What do I need to do more; do less; stop, or start doing in my
relationship (marriage)? Commit to the responses, and they will definitely help
you to become a better person – a lovely spouse!
